Janus is a tabletop in shifting matter. It’s surface is a smoothly changing gradient in materiality, haptic, colour, planarity and reflectivity. A rough wooden panel is gradually fusing into a high glossy finished office table. This table brings together different disciplines in an office and allows more flexibility in a limited space. Janus will not only serve typical office needs for working, sketching or eating on the one side and cutting, model-making or experimentation on the other one, but also everything in between.
The trestle is assembled with three elements. Two leg units and a crossbar are simply stuck into each other. No screws are needed, no additional fixation. The crossbar is placed between two rods on both sides. By pulling the legs towards the outside the pieces clamp together and build a solid table frame. The frame is lightweight and can easily be set up by one person.
